Safe Harbor might be the newest name in vessel pollution, but with nearly 50 years of applied expertise, our team represents the longest continually practicing experts in the vessel pollution space—something that can’t be claimed by any other carrier in the industry.

One of those experts is our vice president, Sean Quinn. Sean brought 8 years of underwriting and claims experience to Safe Harbor Pollution Insurance from his previous role as underwriter and assistant claims manager at Water Quality Insurance Syndicate.

Upon the inception of Safe Harbor in 2013, Sean was appointed vice president to handle all claims and build the company’s spill management team, which is now the largest in the industry. Sean works closely with clients throughout the entire claim, from the initial response and notification, to invoice review and subrogation. He’s also in charge of Safe Harbor’s legal strategy and is responsible for analyzing legal briefs.

“When we started, we knew there was only one person with the experience and relationships throughout the country who would be capable of managing all different types of incidents,” says Tony Gerone, partner at Safe Harbor. “We were lucky that Sean decided to join us. We believed in creating the largest and most prepared spill response network in the industry, and there is no one better to manage that network.”

With a combined 13 years in the industry, Sean’s extensive relationships with brokers, assureds, surveyors, contractors, and lawyers translate into providing superior underwriting products with exceptional service and claim-handling capabilities for Safe Harbor clients.

“Creating a network of professionals that can mobilize and assist our clients through every phase of a spill is what I’m most proud of leading and being a part of,” says Sean. “We’re not just an insurance company to our assureds, but a partner to assist in all facets of an incident.”

Sean graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy with a degree in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation and holds a Certificate in Marine Liabilities from St. John's University.
