For this month’s team spotlight, we’re featuring one of the newer members of Safe Harbor: Matthew Sutherland.
Matthew joined our team in December 2017 as an account assistant. In his role, he’s responsible for communicating with the brokers and underwriters for renewal accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and processing new submissions.
“Matthew joined Safe Harbor a little over a year ago and has been such a great fit for our team,” says Joan Hencler, underwriting operations manager. “I am continually impressed by his hard work, positive attitude, and willingness to help the team each and every day. He goes above and beyond to provide the best customer service to our brokers and assureds, something we value highly at this company.”
Before joining Safe Harbor, Matthew was a supervisor at Stir It Up Cuisine Catering, where he directed staff on daily operations and was responsible for generating new business. The management skills and work ethic he brought to his role at Safe Harbor made him an ideal fit for the company.
“One of the best things about working at Safe Harbor is collaborating with a team to provide excellent customer service to the brokers,” says Matthew. “There’s a great camaraderie in the office.”
Matthew is originally from Boston, MA and holds an Associate of Science in English and Elementary Education from Quincy College. Outside of his career, he is an avid baker and frequently provides cupcakes for different events. Matthew also volunteers with a worldwide youth organization that serves over 300,000 kids.
